❝Have you never wanted to do anything that was dangerous? Where should we be if no one tried to find out what lies beyond? Have you never wanted to look beyond the clouds and the stars, or to know what causes the trees to bud? And what changes the darkness into light?❞
❝You have created a monster, and it will destroy you!❞

While I prefer the 2025 adaptation, I can see why the 1931 film is considered a classic in horror cinema. Frankenstein isn't completely accurate to Mary Shelley's brilliant novel, but its version of the Monster is excellently done, from the prosthetics to the fantastic performance from Boris Karloff. That's not to say the rest of the cast are bad; on the contrary, I really liked the 'mad scientist' portrayal of Henry Frankenstein by Colin Clive, as well as the much more level-headed Dr. Waldman, played by Edward Van Sloan. My main issue was with the run-time and plot, because to me the story felt very rushed and there wasn't enough time to fully flesh out the characters, and this lasted up until the very end. All said and done, though, I still liked this a lot, and I'm excited to watch Bride of Frankenstein next.
