I love when films are emotional and this movie was. The feelings are so genuine and moving. When my grandpa died i was 5. I didn’t know what to do with all of the grief i had, so i just bottled it up and kept it in me. But this movie really hit me where it hurt and it did it in such a good way. The way Davis handles the death of his wife is so interesting and realistic because it looks and feels so authentic and real. he doesn’t scream or cry or complain. he appears unbothered and factual, which feels almost uncomfortable at the beginning, but is then explained later on... I feel like its genuine in its message and an excellent portrayal of grief, as well as personal growth. Whats beautiful about it is its simplicity and the feeling of pride you get while watching him adapt to the newfound reality of his dead wife. The feeling of freedom you get when you can finally let go of certain problems or something that’s been keeping you back for a long time.
