Andy Warhol’s Frankenstein
Or the more aptly titled
Flesh for Frankenstein
Considering the famed white haired mop top pop artiste had little to do with the actual production apart from the use of Factory regulars Paul Morrissey and Joe Dallesandro.
Is a movie worth seeing if only to hear Udo Keir orgasmically pronounce ‘gall bladder’
Udo is Baron Von Frankenstein, Monique van Vooren is his wife and uhh…sister…who busies herself with exploring the body of farm hand Nicholas (Joe Dallesandro - in pretty much the same role as Blood for Dracula but without the revolutionary underpinning).
The Baron is busy with bodily exploration of a different kind, creating a male monster (Srdjan Zelenovic) and a female monster (Dalia Di Lazzaro) who he plates to breed so they can produce child superior to his own! One small problem though, his choice for male monster isn’t exactly interested in the fairer sex…
Campy, gorey, ridiculously kinky and surely holding the per capita disembowelment record of any movie produced before or since? In between the Baron’s way too friendly bedside manner (with a corpse mind you) and his Sister’s infatuation with servicing the servants, we have the hilarious reaction shots of the Baron’s assistant Otto (Arno Jureging) who has crafted the act of the double take into an art form.
