I think reevaluating Charlie Chaplin was worth it after being through these quite so modern times of my own life. If i had to really decide what could be my favorite all time genre, It might be Visual Comedy.
There's just so much to the gerne by it's mere basis and the impeccable work on who plays around the space in or outside the camera or set piece which not only does buster keaton, jacques tati, Harold loyd, and especially Charlie do to such a huge extent. But for Charlie there's something so cathartically motivating on how much empathy he provides aside his sense of facial expression or humbleness, I'll be honest. To see this perspective of sincerity be stereotypically grown out of in this age of endless irony and toxicity is to me such a tragedy for his filmmaking to be acknowledged like that.
Because instead of wallowing his icon against self-subversion merely to addict the society that roams around him, He rises to the smallest significance there is under this massive dystopian hellscape, And lets everyone shine to move us in our seats. From The Kid to here, he's managed to capture a soul in film i've never seen anyone even dare to be influenced by, Because we've moved ahead against his dream. We believed there wouldn't a chance to open up to people no matter their complexities and in the end, Our irrelevance has left us more bitter and alone in this very time.
The boss stuck to the cogs while he's still letting Charlie feed him celery down his mouth gets me every time.
