I feel conflicted about this film.
Firstly, it's hardly a comedy. I can't decide if this is a problem or not.
I wish there was more of Steve Carell, because THAT is an actor that is funny. But anyway, that's not the main point of this film.
An issue I have with Jim Carrey is that whilst he is a good actor, I just don't find him very funny. Normally, this is a major issue as he is a comedy actor, but this time it was different.
The exchange between Bruce (Carrey) and God (Freeman) towards the end, around the 1h 20m mark I belive, hit me out of nowhere. I was preparing to give this film a low 5 throughout - but in that moment it all changed; the film just got deep out of the blue and I loved it.
However, this was then a bit diminished after Grace and Bruce ended up together anyway, which kind of defeated the point of the scene. A bit disappointing to say the least.
