I am going to go into spoilers so if you haven’t seen it, don’t read on.
The whole film had great build up. The storytelling was great. However were it lost scores for me was how predictable it was. Now, I usually say a film being predictable isn’t a bad thing, but my issue was the whole film felt predictable. I predicted how Black Phillip was the real devil and how Thomasin was being falsely accused. I knew the twins would disappear, based of how the films plot was heading. However, but aside all of this it’s still a great film. Eggers carries over, again, this dark tone, which I’m just going to change to the Eggers tone. The dialogue, rooting back to old English was a pretty bold but in the end the best choice, as many big budget studios would want normal English, which would probably bring down the score of the film as a whole. I thought the ending with her eventually joining the devil, was the best possible route, finally not every film needs a happy ending!
