At least a top five cigarette light of all time. Wowzers.
Pretty standard noir fare with the added twist of the escape to the snowy wilderness. Kinda wish it hadn’t had the tacked on ending of him returning because him remembering her with tears in his eyes as he returns to his crime ridden lonely city was a great transition.
I thought I might be frustrated at the amount of set up and the thin plot once you are in the wilderness (everything falls together a bit too easily), but I honestly didn’t mind. Ida Lupino joining right when it could’ve gotten dull and adding a whole new element was wonderful.
As the President of the Ida Lupino fan club, this film gets two thumbs up!
