Follows the golden rules: No despair without tenderness. No vulgarity or cruelty without vulnerability.

Possibly my new favorite Robert Ryan performance but it eventually becomes entirely about Ida Lupino for me in the end.

At least a top five cigarette light of all time. Wowzers.

Pretty standard noir fare with the added twist of the escape to the snowy wilderness. Kinda wish it hadn’t had the tacked on ending of him returning because him remembering her with tears in his eyes as he returns to his crime ridden lonely city was a great transition.

I thought I might be frustrated at the amount of set up and the thin plot once you are in the wilderness (everything falls together a bit too easily), but I honestly didn’t mind. Ida Lupino joining right when it could’ve gotten dull and adding a whole new element was wonderful.

As the President of the Ida Lupino fan club, this film gets two thumbs up!

On Dangerous Ground

A strong arming city cop that faces multiple brutality charges is sent out to the country. Out there he finds a vengeful father looking to murder the man that killed his son, but what he finds is love with a blind country girl. This is for sure an interesting watch and enjoyable throughout. The style was very classic and the performances were fast talking and punchy. Didn’t really contend with the main character’s ruthlessness besides showing it tame compared the farmer father. I didn’t really care for the falling in love parts. The chases were fun and the dialogue flowed so fine.
