As technically sound as both is predecessors, The Evil of Frankenstein does feel a little repetitive and formulaic, it’s still solid, but it definitely misses something, a big homage to the Universal movies, but I don’t think that’s what Hammer should be doing with their movies, idk, Peter Cushing great as usual

It’s only the 3rd out of 7 Hammer Frankenstein movies and I already feel like they are running out of ideas. Basically Frankenstein has to fight this psychic for control of his monster in this. It was an alright idea but just not really interesting to me. I appreciated the design for the monster that was closer to the classic universal design although I would’ve liked it if they stayed closer to their hammer design. Still some really fun gothic horror set design and a pretty great fiery ending. Unfortunately they are already running into sequelitis.

Welp, this one sucks. It completely rewrites the continuity of the previous two films, features a MUCH worse looking monster, and is primarily about hypnosis?? I knew I was in trouble when the first 20 minutes included a 10 minute clip of the first movie. Never a good sign, especially in a movie that’s already under 90 minutes.
