There’s nothing redemptive about this, yet it also perfectly encapsulates a moment in time of early noughties, post 9/11, singing competition shows. No depth, no acting ability, no problem. The fact Kelly Clarkson recovered from this to drop Since U Been Gone should be studied.

Wow. This was amazing. I’m not being ironic, I’m dead serious. This was nowhere as bad as people made it out to be. The music and choreography were top notch. The choreography was like High School Musical dancing on steroids with a side of people dancing like they’re at the club. I liked the 2000s-core vibe and the cover art of the movie. The line where Kelly demands Justin to not give her any non-dairy whipped cream had me kind of confused since I didn’t know that whipped cream can be made without dairy, however, it was probably just the movie trying to fuck with my brain, but I’m not docking points for that. Kelly, after what I heard about you distancing yourself from this movie even though I liked it, I’m gonna say that I’m proud that you finally learned how to spread your wings and learned how to fly. You did whatever it took to touch the sky. You made a wish, took a chance and finally broke away from the movie that you said was a “contractual obligation” and that it made you cry a lot. I bet you blast both “Breakaway” and “Since U Been Gone” if someone mentioned From Justin to Kelly now.
