Growing up, my mom would always tell me how she dislikes my dad immensely, but she doesn't regret meeting him because she wouldn't have me otherwise. That kind of dynamic felt really pertinent to this film.

I loved this movie with my whole heart. Greta's character felt so relatable to myself (and not just because she's lo-key a quaker). She's easily one of my favorite directors of all time, but her performance here had me thinking i'd say the same in relationship to her skills as an actress. Julianne Moore was an unexpected delight! While I initially came to this film for Ethan Hawke, he ended up being just okay. This is very much a female strong film, and it felt both intentional and well-executed in that regards. 

Kind of unrelated but I love that this was set in NYC as its easy to imagine it as Philly. The pews in the meeting house look just like the ones on arch street, and the round bench looks like one in University City somewhere between Penn and Drexels campus.
