an infamous example of one of the more transgressive french extremist movies of the era. baise-moi is a low-quality, snuff esque collage of clips, all really bordering on ‘art’ and ‘pornography’. it’s definitely not a good movie traditionally (the plot feels reliant on shock value, it had a really grainy look and it comes of highly exploitative), but i still really respect this. it’s one of the best rape-revenge flicks, and perfectly portrayals primal female rage, having a really anarchic and punk aesthetic. shot by real porn stars, and using unsimulated sex to reclaim female sexuality, having clear feminist undertones (as both directors are women, who both believe in the liberation of women). it’s pure nihilistic rebellion, and truly divisive. some may see a movie reliant on pure shock, and also being just generally borderline pornographic, but i honestly think it’s a smart nihilistic rebellion, and one of the grittiest revenge films to date
