I don’t usually feel the urge to criticise retro, well-made films, but here the idea clearly outshines the execution. The concept and script were rare and genuinely intriguing for its time, yet movie feels underdeveloped, as if the film rushes through too many ideas without giving them room to breathe. That haste might make the story feel more realistic, but it also makes it less satisfying. We don’t spend enough time with her for the ending to fully land or make emotional sense, which ultimately wastes the film’s greater potential. I wish the film had been longer. Maybe then it would have given me the time to build a real emotional connection with the girl, instead of keeping her at a distance until the very end.
