This was very enjoyable and inspiring. Ando Sakura puts in an unbelievable performance playing a bum that then turns her life around. This film was very enjoyable and actually really funny at certain points with its humor. While being funny, in an instant it'll just rip your heart out at one point in the film. That one scene was absolutely brutal to watch and trigger warning for those who have experienced sexual assault going into this film as it has a graphic scene similar to Perfect Blue. But after that horrific scene that's when everything turned around. Seeing Ichiko go through the process of learning boxing while not knowing anything about it was super cool to watch and sort of inspired me seeing the process of picking up a completely new skill and starting something new. Made me feel like I need to actually make something with all of the material I have shot. Just seeing Ando train was really unbelievable, because she really put in the work and looked really good and like a natural. That reminded me of myself when I did karate when I was a little kid and struggled my first year, then just got into a groove with it for the years to come. The passion that Ichiko showed to about boxing with her shadow boxing while working in the 100¥ conbini showed that she really cared about it and wanted to turn her life around. Damn and that final scene where she enters her first ever fight... There was an incredible one shot take of her walking out to the ring which looked exactly like an expensive PPV Tyson fight.
Ando Sakura really impressed me with this performance and was the best part of this film as she was in her element the entire time.
