In 1830, the Karnstein heirs use the blood of an innocent to bring forth the evil that is the beautiful Mircalla - or as she was in 1710, Carmilla. The nearby Finishing School offers rich pickings not only in in the blood of nubile young ladies but also with the headmaster who is desperate to become Mircalla's disciple, and the equally besotted and even more foolish author Richard Lestrange.

Lust for a vampire is the second part of the karnstein trilogy. It's no vampire lovers and loses the beautiful Ingrid Pitt as as carmilla. That being said it still has that hammer vampire 70s charm that I can't help but love.
Lust for a vampire follows a writer working at a girl's finishing school as a teacher when a new girl arrives. The girls and people start dying as the vampire seduces and feeds her way through the school.
The story isn't anything new and I do like the intimate nature of vampire lovers more. That being said when watching these movies the story isn't the biggest problem. Make sure the vampires are beautiful, the place looks Gothic and there is a bit of sexiness and I'm happy. Lust does that so I was happy with what I got. I do wish the central romance was more between carmilla and a other girl though just because it's more her thing. The dream sequence was pretty cool as well.
The vampire lore was interesting. I fo like that hammer did differentiate the vampire types between these movies and dracula. As for the vampire herself, Yutte Stensgard plays carmilla and even if I prefer Ingrid, Yutte brings her own charm to the role. The other 2 vampires in her little family were fine. Nothing to interesting but cool.
The non vampire characters were interesting. Janet was the most fun to follow. The movie also focuses on the writer and he was fine. I always find hammer female protagonists were more interesting than the male characters except for Frankenstein, van helsing and dracula. The father of an unlucky girl was more intriguing as he investigates the cover up of his daughter's death.
The movie looks good. Castle karnstein and it's destruction near the end was one of the best scenes in the movie.
Lust for a vampire is a fun and cool vampire movie from hammer. Is it one of there best, no. It still has a lot of cool moments and a great Carmilla.

Too many men. I was waiting for more lesbianism and vampirism and less men, because ugh, why so many men in a movie about vampires who charm women?? I was expecting more from this movie, tbh.
