If you told me 2 hours ago, that a silent film can still have some badass scenes, i would have laughed in your face. Did he really slay a whole dragon? The Night King from GOT looks like a joke compared to this fella.

First I wanna say this absolutely blew my expectations, I thought it was gonna a epic fantasy adventure type of movie but it was so much more then that. An amazing deep well thought out plot of Betrayal, Lies, Pride, Honor and Fear. I Absolutely loved the special effects, sets and costumes used in this film, Fritz Lang built entire castles and forests indoor, and Definitely the highlight of the film was the 60 foot mechanical dragon that breathed FIRE that was used and controlled by a bunch of different people, It was very Technical, Complex and Groundbreaking for 1924 which was by far my favorite scene the whole fight with it was so thrilling and entertaining. Absolutely also loved the golden tint that was used instead of the normal black and white Almost ever other film would use it definitely helped paint this more fantasy and more mystical atmosphere Fritz Lang was going for. This Film Pioneered a lot and set the blueprints for future Fantasy Films all packed in with an amazing Narrative that was adapted from an Epic German Poem from the 1400s.

Die Nibelungen is one of the most visually inventive silent films I’ve ever seen, every frame feels built from pure imagination rather than reality. The giant sets, the shadows, the dragon, the forests; it all feels ancient and unreal at the same time.  
What amazed me most is how creative the film still feels a century later, like cinema itself was discovering its own myths while the camera was rolling.

Surprisingly beautiful movie out of the '20s. The silent aspect of the film didn't bother me, jus tthe fact i'm not fluent in german was a bit rough.
It does show me i will enjoy silent movies that i'm able to follow better.

It did help that i knew the half of the story so i was able to follow it.

The slow pacing is it's biggest problem. Similar to an opera, some things are repeated to make it clear for the audience, which is understandable to an extent.

Still beautiful and i wonder how fucking good this would've been 10 years later with dialogue. Would've felt more full
