Was hoping to see some other earlier Guy Maddin film as my first film from him, instead of going into the deep end of his works with this movie. About 30 minutes into this movie, I realize Guy Maddin probably has no “shallow end” films.

holy shit, this blew me the fuck away. i'm still not sure if i was having a really weird dream or i was watching a movie. "the forbidden room" is like nothing i have ever seen before in my life. such a surreal experience.
