It is honestly impressive to fail this hard on every level. You can see tiny glimpses of the good movie this was supposed to be buried under the rubble, but the finished product is a disaster.
If you managed to make a movie that stinks this much with a cast featuring Jake Gyllenhaal, Catherine Keener, Paul Reubens, and Bill Hader, you have some serious problems. I looked into the trivia and it makes sense why it's such a mess—production shut down constantly because the money kept drying up, and you can tell it was just cobbled together in the edit to try and save face.
They didn't even get to film the most important scene in the script and had to use a literal Jessica Biel dummy to fill the gaps. It’s rare to see something this fundamentally broken, especially with that much talent involved.
