Charming screwball comedy, with double the star power of a typical romcom. Lots of missed connections and misunderstandings, it felt pretty modern for the mid 30s (and by that I mean it felt like the early 40s).
It’s a shame this is one of Jean Harlow’s last roles, she’s quite good in it, though most of my attention stays on Myrna Loy, who is at this point unbelievably underrated, going toe to toe with William Powell, delivering great, genuine chemistry. It’s a pleasure to see them star together in anything, I look forward to seeing the rest of the thin man sequels.
A fun little movie, I could see myself revisiting and upping the rating down the road.
