One of the best documentary's that I have seen. I have such an intrust in National Lampoon and this is such a cool thing to see. I think I’m gonna start collecting that ten years of magazines because I found one from 74 and it’s really funny.

National Lampoon kenne ich hauptsächlich als Brand für die Filmreihe um Familie Griswold. Das Magazin war mir zwar mittlerweile ein Begriff, aber ich hatte keine Ahnung, welchen Einfluss das auf den Humorbetrieb der USA hatte.

Über Legenden der ersten SNL-Generation, über John Landis bis zu den SIMPSONS, was aus der Ecke gekommen ist, ist wahrlich bemerkenswert.

Die Doku ist da erhellend, macht aber grad gegen Ende leider einen Fehler, wenn mit dem tragischen Tod des großen Kopfs hinter dem Projekt ein behaupteter Endpunkt gefunden ist, das Thema aber eigentlich durchaus noch weiter geht. Hier werden die letzten Jahre des Magazins mit ein, zwei Sätzen abgehakt und das Weiterleben als Marke (LOADED WEAPON, VAN WILDER z.B.) komplett ignoriert.

Bis auf dieses Manko aber, wirklich interessant für Leute, die vor allem 80er Humor schätzen.
