Well.... I guess it partly worked for me and partly didn't.

There's a great proto Safdie brothers anxiety adventure in there. Parts of it made me feel even like the Safdie's take big short cuts by pumping anxiety inducing music throughout their movies to reach their intended effect, whereas Cassavettes is kinda mogging them here by gettting a greater effect sans any score at all. Plus, Gazzara is great. But its all in service of... not much in the end?

I watched the shortened cut, but not sure if 30 more minutes of a strange, dis-engaging stripper act would help bring it together for me. And if the purpose was to say 'look what creatives would go through to protect their art' I don't think it carries at all.
