A movie about secrets. Secrets people hide from their loved ones, secrets that children hide from their parents, and secrets that corporations and institutions hide from the public, all under the guise of a "greater good" or larger purpose. It implies an inherent darkness to the human experience that is hard to stomach. Themes of activism and ethics in science explored through domestic disputes that resemble a chamber drama, but the horror slowly starts to creep in, and we're constantly being reminded that this subject has impact beyond the characters in the film.
It all builds to a deeply upsetting final sequence. It reminded me why I was first attracted me to Larry Fessenden's movies in how he uses the horror and monster movie framework to allow us to feel the full weight of the films subject. An incredible horror movie that I expect will stick with me for some time.

What a strange film. It’s not particularly scary in the traditional sense but it is disturbing and horrific. Interesting study on paranoia and suspicion as well as obsession and dedication to science no matter the cost. Really good look at the start of a director’s career who has gone on to be a really well respected artist.
