Oh Johnnie To and Wai Ka-Fai what a beautiful beautiful picture you’ve both made. A stunning meditation on atonement and forgiveness, it blends tones together seamlessly like this is downright hilarious and pretty goofy at times and it’s basically a superhero film but there are just some gorgeous spiritual meditative moments it’s truly great stuff. Also Andy Lau is wearing a big fucking muscle suit for most of the film it’s fucking great and hilarious I love it!! Adored the dynamic with our two leads, never going the romantic route it’s such a refreshing change of pace to just have them be good friends who get to know each other over the course of the film. It’s such an interesting premise as well like Andy Lau can literally see what horrors people committed in their past lives and it’s so spiritual and beautiful and can get very sad like the last 15 mins. It’s a really insane film lol like Andy Lau does backflips and crashes a motorcycle I’m amazed how they managed to make this feel so cohesive and never having the switching tones feel jarring! What a delightful picture, Andy Lau wearing that big ass muscle suit will be an image that will stick with anyone who sees it! Brilliant stuff!!

Not like in a ‘it totally fit exactly what I think is the perfect film’ way but like what the hell 
This just feels like such an important watch in my life
This feels like it really defines something
Never before has so much just like happened 

I feel like I’ve really learnt something here
This absolutely whole-heartedly made me feel 
Like full on undiluted sadness 
And then also the sticky slimy guy fights the big guy and also there’s more slightly sped up shots of the big guys full moon than on screen deaths 
Then you have the obsessed police captain and some real philosophical exploration 
Comedy gold
Actual brutal and hard to watch murder because I just ended up so so invested 
Crazy choreography what the heck 

I’m on my knees dude I’m on my knees and I’m worshipping I think 
More is possible than I ever thought 

There’s so much in whoever allowed this to become real
All of them 
There’s so much life in all of them 
What the hell

One day, I’ll watch this again
One day, I’ll be braver than I am now
One day, this will get what it deserves
