hooptober x #12this was fun as fuck. was expecting some more absolute creep moments like when he watches everyone dance naked. why did he look down at his co-surgeon's dick and balls. there's genuinely 5 movies crammed into just over an hour, but that adds to it! i don't use eye drops so this wouldn't happen

The psychedelic visuals do read as a lesser, slightly jankier, preemptive version of the ones Ken Russell would master in Altered States (especially in tandem with the body morphing) but this is as gory as you’re going to get for a film of this time. Absolutely killer final shot and performance from Ray Milland. Tight as hell, barely wastes any time. Can see this going up on a rewatch.

X: The Man with the X-Ray Eyes
—Sam, we are virtually blind. All of us.
