Based on the description of this film completely different from what I expected. Thought it was going to be about 3 ladies that are affected by men individually. Well now that I’m writing it, kinda was.

Delia- She was in abusive relationships and decided to leave with her kids. She was considered the school slut and got married young. She hates feeling pity towards her. She wishes her kids could’ve had a better life. She’s trying her best 

Greta- She’s an editor. She witnessed her dad cheating on her mom when she was younger. Her mom is also dead. She’s married but everything is not what it seems. Before their marriage she was hooking up with this guy. She broke that off and years later it happened again. She suffered from fidelity. She loves to cheat. Her father could’ve had an effect on that. Nooo but I saw a review and someone was like she cheated on her boring husband with this hot dude. Like y’all can’t be serious omg.

Paula- She’s a runaway. A Haitian man (representation!!!!!!!!!) discovered her and they been living together for the past year. She went out and met a guy, while they were walking he collapsed from a gun shot and she ran. On the road she met this little boy and felt connected to him. He had multiple scratches on him and tried to help him. Her own mother doesn’t respect her and she hates her step dad. Also found out she pregnant. While she was getting donuts. the boy drove away. My favorite plot

I saw a review where someone said they understand the point of this film like the message and I feel the same way. Just three short stories into 1. Doesn’t really have a hidden message or anything. All the three guys were different. Still great overall

This Kid's Got Spunk? or Three Things I Hate About You: Relationship Edition!

Interesting fact: Rebecca Miller is married to Daniel Day-Lewis! So you know, I wonder about the implications here. Three vignettes of women tackling issues within their relationships (and other societal issues): Delia abandoning an abusive relationship, Greta searching for more excitement in hers, and Paula finding meaning with her unplanned pregnancy!

The first vignette is so well realized and personal, I couldn't help but not love this film! First segment feels like a 9/10, the second segment is a 7/10, and last segment maybe a 6/10. Great characterizations throughout, the underlying narration/exposition feels personal and passionate, never really had a feeling of contrivance through any of the stories. Almost all the stories are an acquired taste.

By that, the narration in the film is almost endless and very flowery. Narration becomes such a hindrance that I lost interest in the last segment. The last segment becomes too intimate, I couldn't relate. Also, as with any film from the 2000s, the digital cinematography is low quality. I'm happy the film got made! Stay safe, everyone!
