Scandal loses a bit of steam in its last half. It gets bogged down in melodrama and becomes unnecessarily dreary, with a side character being turned into an emotional prop. It never quite recovers from this and doesn't reach the top tier Kurosawa, but still a solid effort nonetheless.

since 1950s and society aint change😂 human are selfish by nature, scandal shows how fucked up redemption is.
yes indeed we can't control what people think,we all choose what better for ourselves by hurting people.

It was going really good until the party scene which yields this movie until the courtroom scene. I like how the story is being told through the newspapers and some of the cameras operate like TV cameras.
The acting is really solid Shimura takes the cake though he is outrageously good those close-ups and the emotion that was shown on his face in the courtroom scenes were amazing.
Overrall a decent effort from Kurosawa, but the previous movies before this are better.
