I thought this movie was pretty boring. It's so funny to me that M. Night Shyamalan is known for his thrillers, yet his first studio film is this family comedy about a boy who loses his grandpa and looks for answers about life and death.
Although it is so much unlike the rest of his filmography, there are seedlings of Shyamalan trademarks that are there. Things such as the questioning of faith, kids who don't speak like how kids actually speak, and the twist ending.
All in all, a very meh start to Shyamalan's filmography. I know he has his ups and downs over the years, but when he hits, he hits. It's just a shame that this movie does not hit.
