That one girl was so fussy and wouldn't swap her tower for one that looked exactly the same, just for her to give it away anyhow

An Ealing Studio’s Comedy! #west london gal era x

I really enjoyed this, and I didn’t think I would as much as I did! I think the first 20 mins/ half an hour are a bit slow and confusing (I did have to search the plot line for the first section oops) but then it became really funny and fast paced. Did some bits lowkey make no sense in the real world, yes. But it was funny and I enjoyed watching. Just get through the first section of money stockbrokery boringness and then it’s a fun ride.

Also, they tease me with Audrey Hepburn for two seconds, and then she never returned!

Glad I watched an Ealing Studio film!

The Lavender Hill Mob
Despite not having the same level of depth as other comedies from Ealing Studios, there’s still a distinct charm and extremely clever plot. The characters are presented on a clear emotional level with a great use of sentiment, and some of the scenes in here are so well done. The whole Paris segment and the entire climax are great on their own, whilst the constant twists make for a fun watch. The whole coincidentally driven story is amazingly crafted too, especially through the well-written misunderstandings.
