So the majority of the reason I put this movie this low is because of the ending and it has one major glaring issue, how the hell did the T-Rex kill everyone on the boat, like how did that even happen. It’s a major plot hole that always irks me when I watch this one, I really feel like the whole San Diego part is just dumb. They had the two main characters show up because the plot needed them to and they killed a dog, that’s just fucked up honestly. The sequence where they were on the island was pretty good, it has all the elements in it for a solid Jurassic park movie but just horribly botched the ending. By far the best scene was the tall grass scene but I do wish we followed some of the expendable characters out of the grass because after that scene, all the other survivors became obsolete. I also wish we saw more dinosaur species, they really kept it pretty basic. The CGI and practical effects really tied the movie together, it’s still crazy what they were able to achieve with the technology they had. It was solid but not spectacular. I’ll watch it again though.

I think this movie is overhated and underrated. Now it definitely doesn’t come close to the greatness of the original Jurassic Park, but boy oh boy is it a fun time had by all, especially by Steven Spielberg. You can tell he had a blast making this, I mean this is just set piece after set piece after set piece. Plus, Jeff Goldblum is the main character and he’s confused half the time, ITS AMAZING!! I love the double bus sequence, I love the double dino kill that literally involves two t-rexes tearing a man’s body in half, I love how stupid these people are for going back to the island, I love the continued stupidity when they decide to take a dinosaur to SAN DIEGO, I love the Godzillaesque rampage through the city that the mama dino partakes in, and of course the little moments that don’t make an ounce of sense such as when Jeff Goldblum’s daughter does a gymnastic move and kicks a dinosaur in the face. This is how movies should be made. Also, the message is a pretty good one. I mean it’s literally about leaving nature how it is and not interfering with it. Just let these creatures live their lives, why must we try and exploit them when all that comes out of it is DEATH. You saw how bad things got when those corporate capitalist assholes got in the way of dinosaurs, they put people’s lives at risk and even allowed for the deaths of many individuals. Anyway, this is fun. It’s full of great action packed moments. I’m fully expecting the quality of these movies to go downhill from here on out though due to Spielberg not being involved as much. I pray the third one is decent.
