"I am the yearning that resides in a woman's heart.... that's who I am"
First of all, credits' song and mv were fire! bring them back!Second of all, while this may be a film were the protagonists are antagonists (the real Kishnanal wasn't actually a bad person who is OK to steal his entire life from), the film (and I assume the folktale it is based on) is saying something bigger: women should be able to choose and desire and live in accordance with their desires. The irony here is that the real Kish was not really living in accordance with his own wishes but his dad's so what should he have done instead? disobey his father? when it was what he was living for? what he's told he's supposed to live for? all of those struggles of his were not centered here... it's about HER choice, being asked what she wants, being respected and assured.... because if her own husband who in this society is supposed to look out for her just ups and leaves her crying, does not prioritize her, her feelings or her wishes... then choosing the ghost over him is not a difficult choice.I was not a big fan of the soundtrack in this film but I suspect that I'm missing historical and folktale background\context... maybe? the fact that I felt this means that they did a good job if it is what they intended.Loved the costumes.I must admit I was a little bored towards the ending but the ending made me like this film very much.... I love rooting for villains who unapologetically choose their love even at the expense of others (yikes!).
