Wasn't exactly accurate (although I prepared myself it probably wouldn't be) bc we all know she was a very intricate woman and a hardcore genius. But the costumes were incredible, so were the visuals. And had a lovely cast!! (Id be lying if I said I didn't watch this for Elle Fanning and Tom Surridge, love them lots)

I do wish the film had leaned further gothic. After all, this is the woman who lost her virginity on her mother’s grave and spent decades keeping her husband’s heart wrapped in pages of his poetry.

Nonetheless, it has such perfect encapsulations of the historical tragedies and the inspirations for the terrific pieces of art, that I can't help but love it. And the costumes, color palette, and set design are giving me the atmosphere of my autumnal dreams.

I felt very engaged in the movie; the cast was amazing. I found myself very intrigued by the story of Claire Clairemont, as the actress Bel Powley was absolutely amazing in her role. Of course, Elle Fanning was incredible, unbelievable, and while I am fascinated by Mary's story, it wasn't the one that intrigued me the most, as the characters of Claire, Percy, and Lord Byron felt more complex and unclear. Mary felt slightly shallow, not her personality or the acting, but everything was so clearly put, nothing was really ambiguous, comparatively to Lord Byron, who, while disturbingly horrible, had some complexities and depth, like he might have been a horrible guy, but he had his moments of glimmers of good, and the chaotic nature of Byron was theatrical and fun. And Percy, a completely broken and deeply tourmented man, who seemingly would be a horrible person, but is portrayed better, and like he is pushing through his pain and trying his best to be a good person, even if he doesn't always succeed. And Claire, well, I don't even know what it was, but there was something.

But all in all, I liked the entire movie a lot.

I just want to learn about Mary Shelley before I read her book. I don’t know what I learned actually. I feel like I zoned out half the time, but I didn’t and I completely forgot to gather knowledge or if is there to gather. Many people also miss the fact that Percy is a pedophile.
