Apparently the gif was invented by Wordsworth Donisthorpe (hell of a name) and William Carr Crofts in 1890, when one of them said “hey, we should shoot the traffic in Trafalgar Square” and the other one said “splendid idea.” In actuality, a really neat historical document.
