My last Greenaway (feature) for this binge is also the earliest I'll have seen by him. It always fun to remind oneself of how a director started when you followed their progression as a filmmaker. This is a very silly movie, which most of his movie are tbd. However this movie is silly, absurd and even kinda dark, but without feeling as dark or slightly disturbing as his later works. It's therefore also one of the easiest to sit through, despite the length and repetitioness of it all. So I also wouldn't necessarily recommend this as it's far from a conventional movie. It's a movie you have to be in the mood for, otherwise sitting through 3 hours of Greenaway trying to be funny will be a chore.
I think watching alot of Greenaway before this helped improve the experience. There's a lot of references to his filmography, which is slightly starnge as this was made before many of his other things. But also just knowing his idea of what's funny helps to vibe with movies humor. It's strange sure but if you just accept the movie for what it is, you're in for a good time. And if you're a bird sceptic you'll have a great time
