Out of all of the films on the forgotten horror movies challenge, this one is definitely the most forgotten. For a film that made nearly 3x its budget (139 million dollars in today's money), it's a real shocker that this has practically zero relevance in 2026. What makes it even more surprising that it has zero relevance is the fact that this film is actually good! I thought Frank Langella's performance was great, and he made a good Dracula. I also liked the cinematography and vibe. And the score, man, it's good! Kate Nelligan's performance as Lucy is also good! Laurence Olivier's performance was not very good, though. Trevor Eve's performance as Jonathan Harker is also bad. I just think it's really well done and really well executed! I haven't read the book...Yet, I plan to (I know, shocking!), but I saw some complaining that this was an unfaithful adaptation, but idc since I've never read the book. I do think that this film could have been around 15 minutes shorter, and if it were, it would probably be a 4/5. The writing can also feel flat and awkward. The more I think about it, the lessIi like it, and feel as if it's not memorable 😭. Overall, if you're a die-hard Dracula fan, you'll either love or hate this film, but as someone who's a casual vampire enjoyer, I enjoyed this film.
