"What does an investment banker use as birth control? His personality."
the shit we let slide and the stuff we tolerate just because a family member does it, and the immense joy when they show a slight bit of consideration, the undeniable anger that stops us from thinking rationally, or the strong determination to leave them all behind, which more often than not, collapses back into fragility and vulnerability, because it all boils down to love..a complicated sense of love.
and it isn’t easy to see them through a clear lens, it’s always love and care blurred by hatred and anger, and when you stare for too long you might even start sympathizing with them for who they are, no matter how wrong they treated you
this movie captures it quite well, i wouldn’t say it’s the most intense portrayal of complicated relationships within a family, but it does a fair job, because one second I loathe Rex’s guts, and the second I see he’s trying his best, and the next second i just say his best is not enough, and then I was crying throughout the last hour of the film.
absolutely incredible film, Sarah snook and Brie Larson should be in more movies together
