Director- Sion Sono. This is the twentieth film I have seen of his. Coincidentally, this is music-themed as well.I found this film to be a merger of Gojira and Toy Story, coupled with aspects from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The film is interesting and engaging, with the visuals not being as colourful as his other works, but still enjoyable. I liked this aspect as watching films with such visuals becomes harmful to one's attention span after a time and may overload the viewer's senses. This film has the template of an underdog film with him finding a way to attain mass appeal, in the form of a smart turtle, but losing it due to taking it for granted.I liked the critique it does of the music industry, too, showing us how if one member gets too popular, it harms the group beyond repair. The turtle with the googly eyes looked awesome. So did the rest of the animate and inanimate critters. The ending with them being distributed has an open-ended feel to it. We can only hope that they got the love they deserved. The way the turtle's journey at the end mirrors that of his training earlier was awesome. The joke about his speed was quite funny. The ending being emotional was not something I expected from Sono, nor something I thought he could do. Neither did I think he would assault women, but that's a different thing.Overall, it is a great watch and one I will highly recommend. I will try to watch Tokyo Drifter, Mandala or Kagemusha next.
