I really love early Hollywood cinema. the beginning of the sound era. I enjoyed every moment of this, even though it’s dark, but I believe every early film is dark in some way.

"Grand Hotel. Always the same. People come, people go. Nothing ever happens."Grand Hotel present its storyline episodically, each thread separating one character of another, briefly overlapping, but they all tangled up together in one place, the luxurious Grand Hotel in Berlin. Every character has their own wits: a melancholic ballerina, a sympathetic thief, a generous and ill old clerk, ruthless businessman and ambitious stenographer. Their tales intersect, each with their own drama.
Bathed in an all-stars ensemble, this movie has become one of the most compelling spectacle of early Hollywood, starring Greta Garbo, Joan Crawford, Lionel and John Barrymore, and many more. The chemistry between them sparks the moment that feel electric, romantic, warm and tense. It may be messy narratively, but still fun and entertaining to watch, and i always love seeing Lionel Barrymore play such a kind and compassionated man.

I honestly only watch this because of Suite Dreams, but it was good.
