This film could have done a lot but it was hollowed out by the decision to not have the main characters be in interracial relationships. Sidney Poitier and Diahann Carroll were still fantastic together though.

Ughhh this is such a beautiful film. Three  of my favourites things combined, jazz, paris and Paul Newman. 
Diahann Carroll was so good in this like she just had this calm elegant presence that stood out. And Paul Newman… he is just naturally charming. The music is what really liked most about this film. It connects everyone even when everything else feels a bit uncertain and then having Louis Armstrong in this made it even more better. I just wish the story went a bit deeper, especially with the themes it brings up. It kind of holds back when it could have said more. Especially about race . Shame Hollywood held back.
