From the get go I liked Daniel. I have the same panic attacks regarding a fear of death. I have since early childhood. His mother in that scene is exactly the figure I need in my life. In fact, I picked this film because I love Audrey Tatou. I always find myself in the “underdog”. The both of them, Daniel and Theo, became dear to me very quickly. I like the mentions of punk, commentaries on judging by appearance, friendship, SA, love, sexism, death, all of it. I was a very lucky person to stumble across this at the public library and decide “fuck it we ball”. I was viscerally caught off guard by a certain scene. Went, “haha, I draw that too” and then exclaimed “oh, oh no, no”. It is evident that France censors less, as I am American, and had never seen a film portray a boy that age performing such an act in a movie before today.
Unrelated: Someone, enlighten me, why is everyone so beautiful in France? Perhaps it’s because they aren’t being poisoned by chemicals in the food 24/7. Oh Europe 💞
On another note, I wasn’t expecting them to make him bald. “I messed up, we gotta go bald” ass.
Final notes: I wanna punch Theo’s dad in the throat so bad. Unhand my boy you troglodyte. Very charming movie.

Una roadmovie con corazón, yo en la infancia también quería escapar de mi realidad por el sentimiento de que no pertenecía ni si quiera en mi casa, ¿será acaso por problemas familiares? No lo sé.

Gondry nos da está road movie de dos morros que construyen su casa rodante y viajan por Francia tratando de encontrarse así mismos, en donde uno escapa de una realidad jodida y otro solo quiere dejar de ser un perdedor. Un viaje que muestra los deseos de pubertos, el sexo, la libertad y la imaginación. 

Tal vez la película contiene poco de la magia de Michel Gondry pero aún así está presente en cada momento, el diseño de arte por ejemplo, Gondry da un acierto en esta película juvenil que hace dudar a más de uno en su situación adolescente hace algunos ayeres.

Tal vez ya me estoy volviendo viejo.
