After a perverted impulse drives them to kill, Alice and her boyfriend, Luc, drag the body into the woods, only to find themselves hopelessly lost – much like the fairy-tale plight of Hansel and Gretel. Starving and with no hope of being found, they chance upon a dilapidated cottage where a hulking man takes them prisoner and proceeds to feed Luc's sexual appetite.

a beautifully tragic perverse fairytale..
this film was wonderful. it takes the recognisable trope of lovers on the run and mutates it into something completely unsettling. i have always been a sucker for twisted retellings of fairytales, and hansel and gretel is maybe one of the most inherently disturbing, so that intertextual layer made it really interesting for me.
what i 'liked' the most about this film was luc's relationship with the man, and with his own sexuality. i say 'liked' cautiously, because luc is clearly exploited; their dynamic wasn't something to be advocating for. instead, it becomes a way of exploring the psychological ambiguity of abusive relationships, resisting simple moral frameworks. luc's distress when the man is captured and beaten by the police is especially difficult to watch: its like stockholm syndrome. the film's treatment of sexuality is particularly significant. luc's bisexuality is very visible, which feels rare for this era, especially in relation to the male identity.

i thought it was just really powerful in exploring luc’s sexual repression through the relationship with the man, showing the messiness of allowing yourself to be hurt to feel something and the toxic dependence abuse can create.

What a strange film, honestly would classify this as horror easily as it's sort of a meeting between fairy tales and horror- just mix that with erotic themes (basically a dark horny take on Hansel and Gretel). The moral code at the end is totally invalid here which I think is the point? Maybe to add more to the uncomfortableness of the film but the intention of the film maker here is confusing. Very much a complex film that I think is about exploring the conflicted natures of humans and it does a decent job at it. The cinematography is subdued and stylish, the characters were interesting atleast but the things that happen kinda felt like there were there just to add controversy and would've love more if it had an actual explanation and valid depth behind it. I like how unusual and unique it was though, you certainly wouldn't see a movie like this in America.
