I decided to give this a go as I watched the 1995 adaption and wanted to see if this was really as bad as its made out to be. Well I can safely say it’s one of the worst movies I’ve ever watched.
From the opening scene, it’s clear no one knew what kind of film they were making. The dialogue sounds like it was written by someone who skimmed a Wikipedia article about the mob and then decided to improvise the rest. The timeline was all over the place, it like the editor said let’s mix it up a little and shuffle it all around, my god!!!!
John Travolta does try his best here but he’s just trapped in a film that that confuses shouting with acting. In many scenes he’s either shouting, growling or overemphasising every line. Strange!
You honestly have to question everything about this movie, from the director, the extras, even the person who approved the poster. It fails in every department imaginable, not just for a gangster movie but a movie in general.
