Gruesome effects. The teeth scene was brutal.

some great imagery here but i felt disconnected to it emotionally, even considering the subject matter. it feels like even with a good amount of build up and seeing the characters, it feels hollow and flat. the film makes a lazy attempt at seeming cut throat with the rebellion on screen but it’s actually not. the movie, in a crazy way, kind of plays it safe with its depiction.

idk why everyone hated this so much but i also know nothing about nate parker and that seems to be most of people’s issue with it. admittedly a little funky cinematically but still a very chilling movie that makes you reflect and that’s always good

Not bad at all but much slower and took a long time to get to the climax that I was waiting for through the whole movie. The ending also felt pretty rushed. Good movie and a great story but more could’ve been done with it.
