American Honey is so bitter is then rounds out to becoming sweet again.
I enjoyed my three hour road trip with this social misfits. I really really loved every single second of this mammoth of a film. There is so much character to be discovered it warrants a second or even third viewing to observe every single intricate detail dedicated to the characters and the story that tangles all. It's kind of amazing that this movie was even made considering the run time and subject material. But the way it handles the subject material is so masterfully done that you then become so involved with what is happening on screen that you begin to feel as though you are watching real people on their road trip. The acting here is so raw and real that these don't feel like characters, they feel like real everyday people that we don't see enough of in cinema. These characters are shown in a way that it to make you hate them or love them, but is show to let you formulate your own opinion of who they are and what they are. It really allows you get involved and the slow pace is to let you get sucked into this underbelly of america that you just never really see, and for the way it's done it is a total treat.
I loved everything about this move. I was never bored with anything happening on screen. The way the story unfolds feels real enough that you don't really get bothered when some stranger evens occur. Our main character is one of study and to understand. She knows who she is, but we get to know who she is through dialog and physical movement of the character and the decisions she makes. We truly get to bond with these people and their problems then become our problems. We empathize and sympathize with them, and their daily struggles.
9/10 may become a 10 on a second viewing.
