i was pleasantly surprised by this movie because i absolutely loved it. to start off with on the whole i really enjoyed it the premise of kind of nothing cinema where our characters just go through their lives and we are just watching them without anything extraordinary having to happen per say. the way that we are able to go into the lives of each character from this perspective is incredible.
to start off with all of our characters are in their own right fairly extraordinary people. we have a couple of lawyers, a mum trying to raise a troubled kid and also build her dream home and a farmer who is attempting to connect with society. then we see with our first two the common occurrence of the men in their lives dragging them down. the mother has to deal with her husband being unsupportive and almost raising her kid solo yet still wants to look after this old man and not rip him off for the stone she’s asking for.
laura has to wait months for this guy to believe the opinion she has only once a man tells her. then he thinks it’s his right to continue to drag her into his bullshit because he got an unfavourable result. yet she still goes and visits him after and provides ane at for him even though he’s threatened to kill her.
my favourite part was our last two girls. they seemed to have an much spark and honestly take to each other so easily. watching them rise around on a horse together was one of the most romantic things i’ve seen in film. then the brutal reality of life kicking back in that they live too far apart and that its a pipe dream for them. this movie takes some women who people may call ordinary and puts into perspective how great they are despite they constant detracting forces in their lives
