"I am a kingmaker"
Goke's Notes:— I thought I would be on The Wife sucks bandwagon but I enjoyed this chilly, composed drama with a towering, simmering performance from Glenn Close— The film explored the tense family dynamics within the film (I wish there was more) — Glenn Close and Jonathan Pryce were awesome — This movie really seemed like a movie my parents would have watched in the 90s (my mother recommended it to me) — Walnuts as Joe's blender — odd (listen to the podcast Blank Check with Griffin and David to find out what a "blender" is) — Since it takes place in Stockholm, I wonder if this film had any shots that were homages to Ingmar Bergman— Nice Christmas-accented production design — Forgot that this was based on a Meg Wolizter novel (makes sense in a way given how subtle the main performance was) — Lots of brits playing Americans (Susannah, Joe, young Joe, David....) — Enjoyed the flashback scenes — young Joan was played by Glenn Close's daughter — Lol, Christian Slater is in this film?!
