Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers
This is a very great and very underrated sequel to the original Sleepaway Camp. It’s a lot more silly, while still packing in some truly horrific and gory scenes. Pamela Springsteen, who is none other than Bruce Springsteen’s sister, plays Angela and is utterly fantastic in the role!! She’s as psychotic as could be and punishes every last kid who breaks the rules. I think she’d get along with the killer from Silent Night, Deadly Night. Anyway, this movie doesn’t focus as heavily on the theme of homosexuality as the first one, but when it does, it disappointingly doesn’t have a positive outlook on it. Also, it interestingly explains that Angela had a sex change operation. So, to me, it seems like all of the good bold moves from the first one were dumbed down in this one, or at least used to demonize Angela. There are still a lot of good things about this though. Like I said some of the kills are just insanely nasty. Angela literally dunks somebody into a toilet bowl full of shit, piss, and leeches. She also goes full on Leatherface mode and uses the face of a kid she killed as a mask, while wielding a chainsaw no less. I really enjoyed the homages to Freddy, Jason, and Leatherface as seen in the backdrop for this review. But my favorite scene was probably Angela’s nightmare sequence that is in slow motion and replays the main events of the film. It’s a nice montage of madness. Also, I love Angela’s little cabin full of her victims, it’s very Leatherface of her. Overall, this is problematic, but it has some cool kills, Angela is magnificently played by Springsteen, and the black comedy works very well. I have high hopes for the third Sleepaway Camp, but I don’t think it will live up to the first two movies.

Not as good as the first but still an incredible slasher. I just don’t understand where the plot went . In the first one, Angela killed the bad people, or there was at least some morality, in this one she just kills everyone
