Bit too fast paced and it does have a rushed ending but overall a sweet story of Sacha's voyage ⛵️🌊

Couldn’t find the original language, only the English dub. I only hope the vocal audio isn’t as bad in the original.

Love the art style, but the story was lacking depth. Still enjoyed my watch

Long Way North gave me everything I could want from an adventure tale made for younger audiences and it accomplished that through the heartwarming family themes paired with the fantastical wonder brought on by the hunt- for-a-lost-ship storyline, and as someone who really loves the way the Arctic and just any icy landscape looks this beautiful animation only deepened my immersion into those themes of family and adventure and it all came together to create one of the better animated movies I’ve ever seen. I really enjoyed the way this exposition was set up, not a minute under or overlong and it did very well in showcasing our main character’s deepest desire and what she’s willing to give up to get it. That desire being the absolution of her family’s legacy by finding her grandfather’s lost ship is a story-writing choice I love because it makes our character’s life enveloped by this dark incident of her grandfather disappearing at sea and because of that the climax functions as both the completion of that tumultuous period in Sasha’s life but also as the beginning of a new era in her life without that dark cloud over her head which is a theme I think works perfectly in this coming-of-age adjacent story. Another part of this I had a great time with was the score from Jonathan Morali, it worked perfectly with Chayé’s art style and the themes of Claire Paoletti’s screenplay to create this rich atmosphere that I unsurprisingly fell in love with instantly. In the end it’s a simply told yet incredibly executed story brought to life through beautiful artwork with lovely music to go with it all and a movie I’m sure I’ll revisit plenty of times over my years on cold winter nights just like this.
