Sunrise is definitely better but it's still good. I couldn't feel as much for the characters in this one. Farming scenes were very cool.

A solid watch but one of Murnaus weaker outings
Still a good film still a good film. I think I’ll never not like a Murnau film. His craft is unlike any other director imo and is one of my favourites but this is probably the least Murnau a Murnau films ever been.
The film is sort of a rehash of the Sunrise storyline but flipped. It starts off with the luscious life of the city then contrasts to the dark life of the countryside.
The film starts off as almost a romantic comedy but then turns into this dramatic romantic thriller I rlly liked the change and it worked well.
Yet again Murnau nails the differences in setting. This can be shown in many ways. The Vehicles used in the different settings, the busyness of the city to the emptiness and lack of people in the countryside. But my favourite part was the difference in score and costume Design. The different instruments used to represent the areas was rlly smart and the costumes are drastically different.
The film shows how greed gets in the way of love which I rather like.
But overall this films just solid. The romance in convincing the acting is solid and the message the film holds is solid enough.
Some parts of the film feel empty and the lack of Murnaus expressionist routes being implemented hurts he has gone full American cinema now. There was a few scenes but overall a very American experience which isn’t bad at all.
But this is a nice little romance film quite feel good tbf a very lovely ending to a overall solid film
