This movie lets Hill's story down. Instead of having a complex dialogue that grapples with how identity (race, gender, and class) makes this not a normal confirmation hearing, the movie chose to be a general overview of what happened in the 90s for a contemporary audience, and does not take a side.
Hill's testimony about the sexual assault she faced at the hands of Thomas and Thomas's "high-tech lynching" soapbox moment were critical to the movie (Washington and Pierce did great in their respective roles). Still, I think the side characters could have explained this complexity from their political sides.
My critiques aside, I hope this country never forgets that George H.W. Bush nominated Clarence Thomas to the Supreme Court and multiple senators worked tirelessly to get him confirmed even though he sexually harassed many women, including Anita Hill, when he was in a position of power. He will never be held accountable for what he did.
