I kinda expected more from the directing and the script tbh. They only showed a tiny slice of his life but whatever
The story didn't really grab me. The two parallel plots, one with Hawking and one with the interviews, just didn't work. It was more distracting than anything
The movie's packed with astronomy and physics terms, which makes sense obviously, but even as someone who graduated from a physics and math program I didn't get a lot of it. They could've at least had Hawking explain some stuff to the other characters now and then so the audience could follow along better
If it's set in Cambridge they could've shown way more of it. Instead it's just hallways, no real atmosphere or any pretty shots
Cumberbatch did a solid job, no complaints there. But they didn't really let his character fully develop. They focused too much on his theory when they should've focused more on him as a person
