The feature is of course much better due to the passage of time giving the actors a more nuanced performance. Really interesting how they kept the same gags like the tap dripping. He is a lot less arrogant in the short which doesn’t work as well. The feature, despite having basically the same dialogue, is just so much more “real”…. really goes to show what expertise in production can do to make a film great.

Absolutely loved the feature, so I thought I’d check out the over a decade old original short film that inspired it.

It's worth mentioning that I had to watch this in like 480p because this thing’s basically lost media at this point, but even through the low quality, you can tell the heart is there. The cinematography is definitely a step down and the plot’s solid but not quite as emotional (as expected from a less fleshed out storyline) yet the the acting still shines through with Tim Key's comedic moments easily being my personal highlight.
